# Quran 6:42 — Surah Al-An'am (The Cattle), Verse 42

## Arabic (Uthmani script)
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٖ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَأَخَذۡنَٰهُم بِٱلۡبَأۡسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ

## Arabic (IndoPak script)
وَلَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَاۤ اِلٰۤی اُمَمٍ مِّنْ قَبْلِكَ فَاَخَذْنٰهُمْ بِالْبَاْسَآءِ وَالضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ یَتَضَرَّعُوْنَ ۟

## Transliteration
Wa laqad arsalnaaa ilaaa umamim min qablika fa akhaznaahum bil ba'saaa'i waddarraaa'i la'allahum yata darra'oon

## English Translation (Abdullah Yusuf Ali)
> Before thee We sent (messengers) to many nations, and We afflicted the nations with suffering and adversity, that they might learn humility.
