# Quran 7:28 — Surah Al-A'raf (The Heights), Verse 28

## Arabic (Uthmani script)
وَإِذَا فَعَلُواْ فَٰحِشَةٗ قَالُواْ وَجَدۡنَا عَلَيۡهَآ ءَابَآءَنَا وَٱللَّهُ أَمَرَنَا بِهَاۗ قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَأۡمُرُ بِٱلۡفَحۡشَآءِۖ أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ

وَاِذَا فَعَلُوْا فَاحِشَةً قَالُوْا وَجَدْنَا عَلَیْهَاۤ اٰبَآءَنَا وَاللّٰهُ اَمَرَنَا بِهَا قُلْ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا یَاْمُرُ بِالْفَحْشَآءِ اَتَقُوْلُوْنَ عَلَی اللّٰهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ ۟

## Transliteration
Wa izaa fa'aloo faahishatan qaaloo wajadnaa 'alaihaaa aabaaa'ana wallaahu amaranaa bihaa; qul innal laaha laa ya'muru bilfahshaaa'i a-taqooloona 'alal laahi maa laa ta'lamoon

## English Translation (Abdullah Yusuf Ali)
> When they do aught that is shameful, they say: "We found our fathers doing so"; and "Allah commanded us thus": Say: "Nay, Allah never commands what is shameful: do ye say of Allah what ye know not?"
