Surah Az-Zukhruf (The Ornaments of Gold), Verse 23

وَكَذٰلِكَ مَاۤ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فِیْ قَرْیَةٍ مِّنْ نَّذِیْرٍ اِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوْهَاۤ اِنَّا وَجَدْنَاۤ اٰبَآءَنَا عَلٰۤی اُمَّةٍ وَّاِنَّا عَلٰۤی اٰثٰرِهِمْ مُّقْتَدُوْنَ ۟

Wa kazaalika maaa arsalnaa min qablika fee qaryatim min nazeerin illaa qaala mutrafoohaaa innaa wajadnaaa aabaaa'anaa 'alaaa ummatinw wa innaa 'alaaa aasaarihim muqtadoon

“Just in the same way, whenever We sent a Warner before thee to any people, the wealthy ones among them said: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we will certainly follow in their footsteps."”
