Al-Qiyamah

لَاۤ اُقْسِمُ بِیَوْمِ الْقِیٰمَةِ ۟

Laaa uqsimu bi yawmil qiyaamah

I do call to witness the Resurrection Day;

وَلَاۤ اُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ ۟

Wa laaa uqsimu bin nafsil lawwaamah

And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil).

اَیَحْسَبُ الْاِنْسَانُ اَلَّنْ نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهٗ ۟

Ayahsabul insaanu al lan najm'a 'izaamah

Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones?

بَلٰى قٰدِرِیْنَ عَلٰۤی اَنْ نُّسَوِّیَ بَنَانَهٗ ۟

Balaa qaadireena 'alaaa an nusawwiya banaanah

Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers.

بَلْ یُرِیْدُ الْاِنْسَانُ لِیَفْجُرَ اَمَامَهٗ ۟

Bal yureedul insaanu liyafjura amaamah

But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him.

یَسْـَٔلُ اَیَّانَ یَوْمُ الْقِیٰمَةِ ۟

Yas'alu ayyyaana yawmul qiyaamah

He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?"

فَاِذَا بَرِقَ الْبَصَرُ ۟

Fa izaa bariqal basar

At length, when the sight is dazed,

وَخَسَفَ الْقَمَرُ ۟

Wa khasafal qamar

And the moon is buried in darkness.

وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ ۟

Wa jumi'ash shamsu wal qamar

And the sun and moon are joined together,-

یَقُوْلُ الْاِنْسَانُ یَوْمَىِٕذٍ اَیْنَ الْمَفَرُّ ۟

Yaqoolul insaanu yaw ma 'izin aynal mafarr

That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?"

كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ۟

Kallaa laa wazar

By no means! No place of safety!

اِلٰى رَبِّكَ یَوْمَىِٕذِ ݹلْمُسْتَقَرُّ ۟

Ilaa rabbika yawma 'izinil mustaqarr

Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest.

یُنَبَّؤُا الْاِنْسَانُ یَوْمَىِٕذٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَاَخَّرَ ۟

Yunabba 'ul insaanu yawma 'izim bimaa qaddama wa akhkhar

That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back.

بَلِ الْاِنْسَانُ عَلٰی نَفْسِهٖ بَصِیْرَةٌ ۟

Balil insaanu 'alaa nafsihee baseerah

Nay, man will be evidence against himself,

وَّلَوْ اَلْقٰى مَعَاذِیْرَهٗ ۟

Wa law alqaa ma'aazeerah

Even though he were to put up his excuses.

لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهٖ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهٖ ۟

Laa tuharrik bihee lisaa naka lita'jala bih

Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith.

اِنَّ عَلَیْنَا جَمْعَهٗ وَقُرْاٰنَهٗ ۟

Inna 'alainaa jam'ahoo wa qur aanah

It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it:

فَاِذَا قَرَاْنٰهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْاٰنَهٗ ۟

Fa izaa qaraanaahu fattabi' qur aanah

But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated):

ثُمَّ اِنَّ عَلَیْنَا بَیَانَهٗ ۟

Summa inna 'alainaa bayaanah

Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear):

كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّوْنَ الْعَاجِلَةَ ۟

Kallaa bal tuhibboonal 'aajilah

Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life,

وَتَذَرُوْنَ الْاٰخِرَةَ ۟

Wa tazaroonal Aakhirah

And leave alone the Hereafter.

وُجُوْهٌ یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ ۟

Wujoohuny yawma 'izin naadirah

Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);-

اِلٰى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ ۟

Ilaa rabbihaa naazirah

Looking towards their Lord;

وَوُجُوْهٌ یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ بَاسِرَةٌ ۟

Wa wujoohuny yawma 'izim baasirah

And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal,

تَظُنُّ اَنْ یُّفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ ۟

Tazunnu any yuf'ala bihaa faaqirah

In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them;

كَلَّاۤ اِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِیَ ۟

Kallaaa izaa balaghatit taraaqee

Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit),

وَقِیْلَ مَنْ رَاقٍ ۟

Wa qeela man raaq

And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?"

وَّظَنَّ اَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ ۟

Wa zanna annahul firaaq

And he will conclude that it was (the Time) of Parting;

وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ ۟

Waltaffatis saaqu bissaaq

And one leg will be joined with another:

اِلٰى رَبِّكَ یَوْمَىِٕذِ ݹلْمَسَاقُ ۟

Ilaa rabbika yawma'izinil masaaq

That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord!

فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلّٰى ۟

Falaa saddaqa wa laa sallaa

So he gave nothing in charity, nor did he pray!-

وَلٰكِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰى ۟

Wa laakin kazzaba wa tawalla

But on the contrary, he rejected Truth and turned away!

ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ اِلٰۤی اَهْلِهٖ یَتَمَطّٰى ۟

Summa zahaba ilaaa ahlihee yatamatta

Then did he stalk to his family in full conceit!

اَوْلٰى لَكَ فَاَوْلٰى ۟

Awlaa laka fa awlaa

Woe to thee, (O men!), yea, woe!

ثُمَّ اَوْلٰى لَكَ فَاَوْلٰى ۟

Summa awlaa laka fa awla

Again, Woe to thee, (O men!), yea, woe!

اَیَحْسَبُ الْاِنْسَانُ اَنْ یُّتْرَكَ سُدًی ۟

Ayahsabul insaanu ai yutraka sudaa

Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled, (without purpose)?

اَلَمْ یَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّنْ مَّنِیٍّ یُّمْنٰى ۟

Alam yaku nutfatam mim maniyyiny yumnaa

Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)?

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوّٰى ۟

Summa kaana 'alaqatan fakhalaqa fasawwaa

Then did he become a leech-like clot; then did (Allah) make and fashion (him) in due proportion.

فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَیْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْاُݥ ۟

Faja'ala minhuz zawjayniz zakara wal unsaa

And of him He made two sexes, male and female.

اَلَیْسَ ذٰلِكَ بِقٰدِرٍ عَلٰۤی اَنْ یُّحْیِ الْمَوْتٰى 

Alaisa zaalika biqaadirin 'alaaa any yuhyiyal mawtaa

Has not He, (the same), the power to give life to the dead?
