As-Saffah

وَالصّٰٓفّٰتِ صَفًّا ۟

Wassaaaffaati saffaa

By those who range themselves in ranks,

فَالزّٰجِرٰتِ زَجْرًا ۟

Fazzaajiraati zajraa

And so are strong in repelling (evil),

فَالتّٰلِیٰتِ ذِكْرًا ۟

Fattaaliyaati Zikra

And thus proclaim the Message (of Allah)!

اِنَّ اِلٰهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ ۟

Inna Illaahakum la Waahid

Verily, your God is one!-

رَبُّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَمَا بَیْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِ ۟

Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa wa Rabbul mashaariq

Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all between them, and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun!

اِنَّا زَیَّنَّا السَّمَآءَ الدُّنْیَا بِزِیْنَةِ ݹلْكَوَاكِبِ ۟

Innaa zaiyannas samaaa 'ad dunyaa bizeenatinil kawaakib

We have indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty (in) the stars,-

وَحِفْظًا مِّنْ كُلِّ شَیْطٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ ۟

Wa hifzam min kulli Shaitaanim maarid

(For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits,

لَا یَسَّمَّعُوْنَ اِلَی الْمَلَاِ الْاَعْلٰی وَیُقْذَفُوْنَ مِنْ كُلِّ جَانِبٍ ۟

Laa yassamma 'oona ilal mala 'il a'alaa wa yuqzafoona min kulli jaanib

(So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side,

دُحُوْرًا وَّلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَّاصِبٌ ۟

Duhooranw wa lahum 'azaabunw waasib

Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty,

اِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَاَتْبَعَهٗ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ ۟

Illaa man khatifal khatfata fa atba'ahoo shihaabun saaqib

Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness.

فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ اَهُمْ اَشَدُّ خَلْقًا اَمْ مَّنْ خَلَقْنَا اِنَّا خَلَقْنٰهُمْ مِّنْ طِیْنٍ لَّازِبٍ ۟

Fastaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqnaa; innaa khalaqnaahum min teenil laazib

Just ask their opinion: are they the more difficult to create, or the (other) beings We have created? Them have We created out of a sticky clay!

بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَیَسْخَرُوْنَ ۟

Bal'ajibta wa yaskharoon

Truly dost thou marvel, while they ridicule,

وَاِذَا ذُكِّرُوْا لَا یَذْكُرُوْنَ ۟

Wa izaa zukkiroo laa yazkuroon

And, when they are admonished, pay no heed,-

وَاِذَا رَاَوْا اٰیَةً یَّسْتَسْخِرُوْنَ ۟

Wa izaa ra aw Aayatany yastaskhiroon

And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery,

وَقَالُوْۤا اِنْ هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِیْنٌ ۟

Wa qaalooo in haazaa illaa sihrum mubeen

And say, "This is nothing but evident sorcery!

ءَاِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّعِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَبْعُوْثُوْنَ ۟

A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa 'izaaman 'a innaa lamab'oosoon

"What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again)

اَوَاٰبَآؤُنَا الْاَوَّلُوْنَ ۟

Awa aabaa'unal awwaloon

"And also our fathers of old?"

قُلْ نَعَمْ وَاَنْتُمْ دَاخِرُوْنَ ۟

Qul na'am wa antum daakhiroon

Say thou: "Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil)."

فَاِنَّمَا هِیَ زَجْرَةٌ وَّاحِدَةٌ فَاِذَا هُمْ یَنْظُرُوْنَ ۟

Fa innamaa hiya zajra tunw waahidatun fa izaa hum yanzuroon

Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see!

وَقَالُوْا یٰوَیْلَنَا هٰذَا یَوْمُ الدِّیْنِ ۟

Wa qaaloo yaa wailanaa haazaa Yawmud-Deen

They will say, "Ah! Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment!"

هٰذَا یَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِیْ كُنْتُمْ بِهٖ تُكَذِّبُوْنَ 

Haazaa Yawmul Faslil lazee kuntum bihee tukaziboon

(A voice will say,) "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!"

اُحْشُرُوا الَّذِیْنَ ظَلَمُوْا وَاَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوْا یَعْبُدُوْنَ ۟

Uhshurul lazeena zalamoo wa azwaajahum wa maa kaanoo ya'budoon

"Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped-

مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ فَاهْدُوْهُمْ اِلٰی صِرَاطِ الْجَحِیْمِ ۟

Min doonil laahi fahdoohum ilaa siraatil Jaheem

"Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire!

وَقِفُوْهُمْ اِنَّهُمْ مَّسْـُٔوْلُوْنَ ۟

Wa qifoohum innahum mas'ooloon

"But stop them, for they must be asked:

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُوْنَ ۟

Maa lakum laa tanaasaroon

"'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'"

بَلْ هُمُ الْیَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُوْنَ ۟

Bal humul Yawma mustaslimoon

Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment);

وَاَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلٰی بَعْضٍ یَّتَسَآءَلُوْنَ ۟

Wa aqbala ba'duhum 'alaa ba'diny yatasaaa'aloon

And they will turn to one another, and question one another.

قَالُوْۤا اِنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ تَاْتُوْنَنَا عَنِ الْیَمِیْنِ ۟

Qaalooo innakum kuntum taatoonanaa 'anil yameen

They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!"

قَالُوْا بَلْ لَّمْ تَكُوْنُوْا مُؤْمِنِیْنَ ۟

Qaaloo bal lam takoonoo mu'mineen

They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith!

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَیْكُمْ مِّنْ سُلْطٰنٍ بَلْ كُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا طٰغِیْنَ ۟

Wa maa kaana lanaa 'alaikum min sultaanim bal kuntum qawman taagheen

"Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion!

فَحَقَّ عَلَیْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَاۤ اِنَّا لَذَآىِٕقُوْنَ ۟

Fahaqqa 'alainaa qawlu Rabbinaaa innaa lazaaa'iqoon

"So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins).

فَاَغْوَیْنٰكُمْ اِنَّا كُنَّا غٰوِیْنَ ۟

Fa aghwainaakum innaa kunnaa ghaaween

"We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray."

فَاِنَّهُمْ یَوْمَىِٕذٍ فِی الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُوْنَ ۟

Fa innahum Yawma'izin fil'azaabi mushtarikoon

Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty.

اِنَّا كَذٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِیْنَ ۟

Innaa kazaalika naf'alu bil mujrimeen

Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners.

اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْۤا اِذَا قِیْلَ لَهُمْ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ یَسْتَكْبِرُوْنَ ۟

Innahum kaanooo izaa qeela lahum laaa ilaaha illal laahu yastakbiroon

For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride,

وَیَقُوْلُوْنَ اَىِٕنَّا لَتَارِكُوْۤا اٰلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُوْنٍ ۟

Wa yaqooloona a'innaa lataarikooo aalihatinaa lishaa'irim majnoon

And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?"

بَلْ جَآءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ ۟

bal jaaa'a bilhaqqi wa saddaqal mursaleen

Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him).

اِنَّكُمْ لَذَآىِٕقُوا الْعَذَابِ الْاَلِیْمِ ۟

Innakum lazaaa'iqul 'azaabil aleem

Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;-

وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ اِلَّا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ ۟

Wa maa tujzawna illaa maa kuntum ta'maloon

But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;-

اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰهِ الْمُخْلَصِیْنَ ۟

Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen

But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,-

اُولٰٓىِٕكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُوْمٌ ۟

Ulaaa'ika lahum rizqum ma'loom

For them is a Sustenance determined,

فَوَاكِهُ وَهُمْ مُّكْرَمُوْنَ ۟

Fa waakihu wa hum mukramoon

Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity,

فِیْ جَنّٰتِ النَّعِیْمِ ۟

Fee jannaatin Na'eem

In Gardens of Felicity,

عَلٰی سُرُرٍ مُّتَقٰبِلِیْنَ ۟

Alaa sururim mutaqaa bileen

Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity):

یُطَافُ عَلَیْهِمْ بِكَاْسٍ مِّنْ مَّعِیْنٍ ۟

Yutaafu 'alaihim bikaasim mim ma'een

Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain,

بَیْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشّٰرِبِیْنَ ۟

Baidaaa'a laz zatil lish shaaribeen

Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof),

لَا فِیْهَا غَوْلٌ وَّلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا یُنْزَفُوْنَ ۟

Laa feehaa ghawlunw wa laa hum 'anhaa yunzafoon

Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom.

وَعِنْدَهُمْ قٰصِرٰتُ الطَّرْفِ عِیْنٌ ۟

Wa 'indahum qaasiraatut tarfi 'een

And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty).

كَاَنَّهُنَّ بَیْضٌ مَّكْنُوْنٌ ۟

Ka annahunna baidum maknoon

As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded.

فَاَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلٰی بَعْضٍ یَّتَسَآءَلُوْنَ ۟

Fa aqbala ba'duhum 'alaa badiny yatasaaa 'aloon

Then they will turn to one another and question one another.

قَالَ قَآىِٕلٌ مِّنْهُمْ اِنِّیْ كَانَ لِیْ قَرِیْنٌ ۟

Qaala qaaa'ilum minhum innee kaana lee qareen

One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth),

یَّقُوْلُ ءَاِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُصَدِّقِیْنَ ۟

Yaqoolu 'a innaka laminal musaddiqeen

"Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)?

ءَاِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّعِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَدِیْنُوْنَ ۟

A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa 'izaaman 'a innaa lamadeenoon

"'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'"

قَالَ هَلْ اَنْتُمْ مُّطَّلِعُوْنَ ۟

Qaala hal antum muttali'oon

(A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?"

فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَاٰهُ فِیْ سَوَآءِ الْجَحِیْمِ ۟

Fattala'a fara aahu fee sawaaa'il Jaheem

He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire.

قَالَ تَاللّٰهِ اِنْ كِدْتَّ لَتُرْدِیْنِ ۟

Qaala tallaahi in kitta laturdeen

He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition!

وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّیْ لَكُنْتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِیْنَ ۟

Wa law laa ni'matu Rabbee lakuntu minal muhdareen

"Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)!

اَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَیِّتِیْنَ ۟

Afamaa nahnu bimaiyiteen

"Is it (the case) that we shall not die,

اِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا الْاُوْلٰی وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِیْنَ ۟

Illa mawtatanal oola wa maa nahnu bimu'azzabeen

"Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?"

اِنَّ هٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِیْمُ ۟

Inna haazaa lahuwal fawzul 'azeem

Verily this is the supreme achievement!

لِمِثْلِ هٰذَا فَلْیَعْمَلِ الْعٰمِلُوْنَ ۟

Limisli haaza falya'ma lil 'aamiloon

For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive.

اَذٰلِكَ خَیْرٌ نُّزُلًا اَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّوْمِ ۟

Azaalika khairun nuzulan am shajaratuz Zaqqoom

Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum?

اِنَّا جَعَلْنٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظّٰلِمِیْنَ ۟

Innaa ja'alnaahaa fitnatal lizzaalimeen

For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers.

اِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِیْۤ اَصْلِ الْجَحِیْمِ ۟

Innahaa shajaratun takhruju feee aslil Jaheem

For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire:

طَلْعُهَا كَاَنَّهٗ رُءُوْسُ الشَّیٰطِیْنِ ۟

Tal'uhaa ka annahoo ru'oosush Shayaateen

The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils:

فَاِنَّهُمْ لَاٰكِلُوْنَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔوْنَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُوْنَ ۟

Fa innahum la aakiloona minhaa famaali'oona minhal butoon

Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith.

ثُمَّ اِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَیْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِیْمٍ ۟

Summa inna lahum 'alaihaa lashawbam min hameem

Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water.

ثُمَّ اِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَاۡاِلَی الْجَحِیْمِ ۟

Summa inna marji'ahum la ilal Jaheem

Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire.

اِنَّهُمْ اَلْفَوْا اٰبَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّیْنَ ۟

Innahum alfaw aabaaa'ahum daaalleen

Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path;

فَهُمْ عَلٰۤی اٰثٰرِهِمْ یُهْرَعُوْنَ ۟

Fahum 'alaa aasaarihim yuhra'oon

So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps!

وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ اَكْثَرُ الْاَوَّلِیْنَ ۟

Wa laqad dalla qablahum aksarul awwaleen

And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;-

وَلَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَا فِیْهِمْ مُّنْذِرِیْنَ ۟

Wa laqad arsalnaa feehim munzireen

But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;-

فَانْظُرْ كَیْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُنْذَرِیْنَ ۟

Fanzur kaifa kaana 'aaqibatul munzareen

Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),-

اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰهِ الْمُخْلَصِیْنَ 

Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen

Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah.

وَلَقَدْ نَادٰىنَا نُوْحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِیْبُوْنَ 

Wa laqad naadaanaa Noohun falani'mal mujeeboon

(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer.

وَنَجَّیْنٰهُ وَاَهْلَهٗ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِیْمِ 

Wa najjainaahu wa ahlahoo minal karbil 'azeem

And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity,

وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّیَّتَهٗ هُمُ الْبٰقِیْنَ 

Wa ja'alnaa zurriyyatahoo hummul baaqeen

And made his progeny to endure (on this earth);

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَیْهِ فِی الْاٰخِرِیْنَ 

Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen

And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times:

سَلٰمٌ عَلٰی نُوْحٍ فِی الْعٰلَمِیْنَ ۟

Salaamun 'alaa Noohin fil 'aalameen

"Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations!"

اِنَّا كَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِی الْمُحْسِنِیْنَ ۟

Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen

Thus indeed do we reward those who do right.

اِنَّهٗ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ ۟

Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen

For he was one of our believing Servants.

ثُمَّ اَغْرَقْنَا الْاٰخَرِیْنَ ۟

Summa aghraqnal aakhareen

Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood.

وَاِنَّ مِنْ شِیْعَتِهٖ لَاِبْرٰهِیْمَ ۟

Wa inna min shee'atihee la Ibraaheem

Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham.

اِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهٗ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِیْمٍ ۟

Iz jaaa'a Rabbahoo bi qalbin saleem

Behold! he approached his Lord with a sound heart.

اِذْ قَالَ لِاَبِیْهِ وَقَوْمِهٖ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُوْنَ ۟

Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maazaa ta'budoon

Behold! he said to his father and to his people, "What is that which ye worship?

اَىِٕفْكًا اٰلِهَةً دُوْنَ اللّٰهِ تُرِیْدُوْنَ ۟

A'ifkan aalihatan doonal laahi tureedoon

"Is it a falsehood- gods other than Allah- that ye desire?

فَمَا ظَنُّكُمْ بِرَبِّ الْعٰلَمِیْنَ ۟

Famaa zannukum bi Rabbil'aalameen

"Then what is your idea about the Lord of the worlds?"

فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِی النُّجُوْمِ ۟

Fanazara nazratan finnujoom

Then did he cast a glance at the Stars.

فَقَالَ اِنِّیْ سَقِیْمٌ ۟

Faqaala innee saqeem

And he said, "I am indeed sick (at heart)!"

فَتَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِیْنَ ۟

Fatawallaw 'anhu mudbireen

So they turned away from him, and departed.

فَرَاغَ اِلٰۤی اٰلِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ اَلَا تَاْكُلُوْنَ ۟

Faraagha ilaaa aalihatihim faqaala alaa taakuloon

Then did he turn to their gods and said, "will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?...

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنْطِقُوْنَ ۟

Maa lakum laa tantiqoon

"What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?"

فَرَاغَ عَلَیْهِمْ ضَرْبًا بِالْیَمِیْنِ ۟

Faraagha 'alaihim darbam bilyameen

Then did he turn upon them, striking (them) with the right hand.

فَاَقْبَلُوْۤا اِلَیْهِ یَزِفُّوْنَ ۟

Fa aqbalooo ilaihi yaziffoon

Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him).

قَالَ اَتَعْبُدُوْنَ مَا تَنْحِتُوْنَ ۟

Qaala ata'budoona maa tanhitoon

He said: "Worship ye that which ye have (yourselves) carved?

وَاللّٰهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ ۟

Wallaahu khalaqakum wa maa ta'maloon

"But Allah has created you and your handwork!"

قَالُوا ابْنُوْا لَهٗ بُنْیَانًا فَاَلْقُوْهُ فِی الْجَحِیْمِ ۟

Qaalub noo lahoo bun yaanan fa alqoohu fil jaheem

They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!"

فَاَرَادُوْا بِهٖ كَیْدًا فَجَعَلْنٰهُمُ الْاَسْفَلِیْنَ ۟

Fa araadoo bihee kaidan faja 'alnaahumul asfaleen

(This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated!

وَقَالَ اِنِّیْ ذَاهِبٌ اِلٰی رَبِّیْ سَیَهْدِیْنِ ۟

Wa qaala innee zaahibun ilaa Rabbee sa yahdeen

He said: "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me!

رَبِّ هَبْ لِیْ مِنَ الصّٰلِحِیْنَ ۟

Rabbi hab lee minas saaliheen

"O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!"

فَبَشَّرْنٰهُ بِغُلٰمٍ حَلِیْمٍ ۟

Fabashsharnaahu bighulaamin haleem

So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear.

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعْیَ قَالَ یٰبُنَیَّ اِنِّیْۤ اَرٰی فِی الْمَنَامِ اَنِّیْۤ اَذْبَحُكَ فَانْظُرْ مَاذَا تَرٰی قَالَ یٰۤاَبَتِ افْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ سَتَجِدُنِیْۤ اِنْ شَآءَ اللّٰهُ مِنَ الصّٰبِرِیْنَ ۟

Falamma balagha ma'a hus sa'ya qaala yaa buniya inneee araa fil manaami anneee azbahuka fanzur maazaa taraa; qaala yaaa abatif 'al maa tu'maru satajidunee in shaaa'allaahu minas saabireen

Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!"

فَلَمَّاۤ اَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهٗ لِلْجَبِیْنِ ۟

Falammaaa aslamaa wa tallahoo liljabeen

So when they had both submitted their wills (to Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice),

وَنَادَیْنٰهُ اَنْ یّٰۤاِبْرٰهِیْمُ ۟

Wa naadainaahu ai yaaaa Ibraheem

We called out to him "O Abraham!

قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّءْیَا اِنَّا كَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِی الْمُحْسِنِیْنَ ۟

Qad saddaqtar ru'yaa; innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen

"Thou hast already fulfilled the vision!" - thus indeed do We reward those who do right.

اِنَّ هٰذَا لَهُوَ الْبَلٰٓؤُا الْمُبِیْنُ ۟

Inna haazaa lahuwal balaaa'ul mubeen

For this was obviously a trial-

وَفَدَیْنٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِیْمٍ ۟

Wa fadainaahu bizibhin 'azeem

And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice:

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَیْهِ فِی الْاٰخِرِیْنَ 

Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen

And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times:

سَلٰمٌ عَلٰۤی اِبْرٰهِیْمَ ۟

Salaamun 'alaaa Ibraaheem

"Peace and salutation to Abraham!"

كَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِی الْمُحْسِنِیْنَ ۟

Kazaalika najzil muhsineen

Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.

اِنَّهٗ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ ۟

Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen

For he was one of our believing Servants.

وَبَشَّرْنٰهُ بِاِسْحٰقَ نَبِیًّا مِّنَ الصّٰلِحِیْنَ ۟

Wa bashsharnaahu bi Ishaaqa Nabiyam minas saaliheen

And We gave him the good news of Isaac - a prophet,- one of the Righteous.

وَبٰرَكْنَا عَلَیْهِ وَعَلٰۤی اِسْحٰقَ وَمِنْ ذُرِّیَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَّظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهٖ مُبِیْنٌ 

Wa baaraknaa 'alaihi wa 'alaaa Ishaaq; wa min zurriyya tihimaa muhsinunw wa zaalimul linafsihee mubeen

We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls.

وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلٰی مُوْسٰی وَهٰرُوْنَ ۟

Wa laqad mananna alaa Moosaa wa Haaroon

Again (of old) We bestowed Our favour on Moses and Aaron,

وَنَجَّیْنٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِیْمِ ۟

Wa najjainaahumaa wa qawmahumaa minal karbil 'azeem

And We delivered them and their people from (their) Great Calamity;

وَنَصَرْنٰهُمْ فَكَانُوْا هُمُ الْغٰلِبِیْنَ ۟

Wa nasarnaahum fakaanoo humul ghaalibeen

And We helped them, so they overcame (their troubles);

وَاٰتَیْنٰهُمَا الْكِتٰبَ الْمُسْتَبِیْنَ ۟

Wa aatainaahumal Kitaabal mustabeen

And We gave them the Book which helps to make things clear;

وَهَدَیْنٰهُمَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِیْمَ ۟

Wa hadainaahumus Siraatal Mustaqeem

And We guided them to the Straight Way.

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَیْهِمَا فِی الْاٰخِرِیْنَ ۟

Wa taraknaa 'alaihimaa fil aakhireen

And We left (this blessing) for them among generations (to come) in later times:

سَلٰمٌ عَلٰی مُوْسٰی وَهٰرُوْنَ ۟

Salaamun 'alaa Moosaa wa Haaroon

"Peace and salutation to Moses and Aaron!"

اِنَّا كَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِی الْمُحْسِنِیْنَ ۟

Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen

Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.

اِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ ۟

Innahumaa min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen

For they were two of our believing Servants.

وَاِنَّ اِلْیَاسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ ۟

Wa inna Ilyaasa laminal mursaleen

So also was Elias among those sent (by Us).

اِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهٖۤ اَلَا تَتَّقُوْنَ ۟

Iz qaala liqawmiheee alaa tattaqoon

Behold, he said to his people, "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

اَتَدْعُوْنَ بَعْلًا وَّتَذَرُوْنَ اَحْسَنَ الْخَالِقِیْنَ ۟

Atad'oona Ba'lanw wa tazaroona ahsanal khaaliqeen

"Will ye call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators,-

اللّٰهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ اٰبَآىِٕكُمُ الْاَوَّلِیْنَ ۟

Allaaha Rabbakum wa Rabba aabaaa'ikumul awwaleen

"Allah, your Lord and Cherisher and the Lord and Cherisher of your fathers of old?"

فَكَذَّبُوْهُ فَاِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُوْنَ ۟

Fakazzaboohu fa inna hum lamuhdaroon

But they rejected him, and they will certainly be called up (for punishment),-

اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰهِ الْمُخْلَصِیْنَ ۟

Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen

Except the sincere and devoted Servants of Allah (among them).

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَیْهِ فِی الْاٰخِرِیْنَ ۟

Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen

And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times:

سَلٰمٌ عَلٰۤی اِلْ یَاسِیْنَ ۟

Salaamun 'alaaa Ilyaaseen

"Peace and salutation to such as Elias!"

اِنَّا كَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِی الْمُحْسِنِیْنَ ۟

Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen

Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.

اِنَّهٗ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ ۟

Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen

For he was one of our believing Servants.

وَاِنَّ لُوْطًا لَّمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ ۟

Wa inna Lootal laminal mursaleen

So also was Lut among those sent (by Us).

اِذْ نَجَّیْنٰهُ وَاَهْلَهٗۤ اَجْمَعِیْنَ ۟

Iz najjainaahu wa ahlahooo ajma'een

Behold, We delivered him and his adherents, all

اِلَّا عَجُوْزًا فِی الْغٰبِرِیْنَ ۟

Illaa 'ajoozan fil ghaabireen

Except an old woman who was among those who lagged behind:

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْاٰخَرِیْنَ ۟

Summa dammarnal aakhareen

Then We destroyed the rest.

وَاِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّوْنَ عَلَیْهِمْ مُّصْبِحِیْنَ ۟

Wa innakum latamurroona 'alaihim musbiheen

Verily, ye pass by their (sites), by day-

وَبِالَّیْلِ اَفَلَا تَعْقِلُوْنَ 

Wa billail; afalaa ta'qiloon

And by night: will ye not understand?

وَاِنَّ یُوْنُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ ۟

Wa inna Yoonusa laminal mursaleen

So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us).

اِذْ اَبَقَ اِلَی الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُوْنِ ۟

Iz abaqa ilal fulkil mash hoon

When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden,

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُدْحَضِیْنَ ۟

Fasaahama fakaana minal mudhadeen

He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned:

فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوْتُ وَهُوَ مُلِیْمٌ ۟

Faltaqamahul hootu wa huwa muleem

Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame.

فَلَوْلَاۤ اَنَّهٗ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِیْنَ ۟

Falaw laaa annahoo kaana minal musabbiheen

Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah,

لَلَبِثَ فِیْ بَطْنِهٖۤ اِلٰی یَوْمِ یُبْعَثُوْنَ ۟

Lalabisa fee batniheee ilaa Yawmi yub'asoon

He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection.

فَنَبَذْنٰهُ بِالْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِیْمٌ ۟

Fanabaznaahu bil'araaa'i wa huwa saqeem

But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness,

وَاَنْۢبَتْنَا عَلَیْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّنْ یَّقْطِیْنٍ ۟

Wa ambatnaa 'alaihi shajaratam mai yaqteen

And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind.

وَاَرْسَلْنٰهُ اِلٰی مِائَةِ اَلْفٍ اَوْ یَزِیْدُوْنَ ۟

Wa arsalnaahu ilaa mi'ati alfin aw yazeedoon

And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more.

فَاٰمَنُوْا فَمَتَّعْنٰهُمْ اِلٰی حِیْنٍ ۟

Fa aamanoo famatta' naahum ilaa heen

And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while.

فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ اَلِرَبِّكَ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ الْبَنُوْنَ ۟

Fastaftihim ali Rabbikal banaatu wa lahumul banoon

Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?-

اَمْ خَلَقْنَا الْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةَ اِنَاثًا وَّهُمْ شٰهِدُوْنَ ۟

Am khalaqnal malaaa'i kata inaasanw wa hum shaahidoon

Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)?

اَلَاۤ اِنَّهُمْ مِّنْ اِفْكِهِمْ لَیَقُوْلُوْنَ ۟

Alaaa innahum min ifkihim la yaqooloon

Is it not that they say, from their own invention,

وَلَدَ اللّٰهُ وَاِنَّهُمْ لَكٰذِبُوْنَ ۟

Waladal laahu wa innahum lakaaziboon

"Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars!

اَصْطَفَی الْبَنَاتِ عَلَی الْبَنِیْنَ ۟

Astafal banaati 'alal baneen

Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons?

مَا لَكُمْ كَیْفَ تَحْكُمُوْنَ ۟

Maa lakum kaifa tahkumoon

What is the matter with you? How judge ye?

اَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُوْنَ ۟

Afalaa tazakkaroon

Will ye not then receive admonition?

اَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطٰنٌ مُّبِیْنٌ ۟

Am lakum sultaanum mubeen

Or have ye an authority manifest?

فَاْتُوْا بِكِتٰبِكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِیْنَ ۟

Faatoo bi Kitaabikum in kuntum saadiqeen

Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful!

وَجَعَلُوْا بَیْنَهٗ وَبَیْنَ الْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ الْجِنَّةُ اِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُوْنَ ۟

Wa ja'aloo bainahoo wa bainal jinnati nasabaa; wa laqad 'alimatil jinnatu innahum lamuhdaroon

And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)!

سُبْحٰنَ اللّٰهِ عَمَّا یَصِفُوْنَ ۟

Subhaanal laahi 'ammaa yasifoon

Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)!

اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰهِ الْمُخْلَصِیْنَ ۟

Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen

Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted.

فَاِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُوْنَ ۟

Fa innakum wa maa ta'budoon

For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship-

مَاۤ اَنْتُمْ عَلَیْهِ بِفٰتِنِیْنَ ۟

Maaa antum 'alaihi bi faaatineen

Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah,

اِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ الْجَحِیْمِ ۟

Illaa man huwa saalil jaheem

Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire!

وَمَا مِنَّاۤ اِلَّا لَهٗ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُوْمٌ ۟

Wa maa minnaaa illaa lahoo maqaamun ma'loom

(Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed;

وَّاِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الصَّآفُّوْنَ ۟

Wa innaa lanah nus saaffoon

"And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service);

وَاِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْمُسَبِّحُوْنَ ۟

Wa innaa lanah nul musabbihoon

"And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!"

وَاِنْ كَانُوْا لَیَقُوْلُوْنَ ۟

Wa in kaanoo la yaqooloon

And there were those who said,

لَوْ اَنَّ عِنْدَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ الْاَوَّلِیْنَ ۟

Law anna 'indanaa zikram minal awwaleen

"If only we had had before us a Message from those of old,

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰهِ الْمُخْلَصِیْنَ ۟

Lakunna 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen

"We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!"

فَكَفَرُوْا بِهٖ فَسَوْفَ یَعْلَمُوْنَ ۟

Fakafaroo bihee fasawfa ya'lamoon

But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know!

وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ ۟

Wa laqad sabaqat Kalimatunaa li'ibaadinal mursa leen

Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us),

اِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ الْمَنْصُوْرُوْنَ ۟

Innaa hum lahumul mansooroon

That they would certainly be assisted,

وَاِنَّ جُنْدَنَا لَهُمُ الْغٰلِبُوْنَ ۟

Wa inna jundana lahumul ghaaliboon

And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer.

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتّٰی حِیْنٍ ۟

Fatawalla 'anhum hatta heen

So turn thou away from them for a little while,

وَّاَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ یُبْصِرُوْنَ ۟

Wa absirhum fasawfa yubsiroon

And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!

اَفَبِعَذَابِنَا یَسْتَعْجِلُوْنَ ۟

Afabi'azaabinaa yasta'jiloon

Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment?

فَاِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِیْنَ ۟

Fa izaa nazala bisaahatihim fasaaa'a sabaahul munzareen

But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)!

وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتّٰی حِیْنٍ ۟

Wa tawalla 'anhum hattaa heen

So turn thou away from them for a little while,

وَّاَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ یُبْصِرُوْنَ ۟

Wa absir fasawfa yubsiroon

And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!

سُبْحٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا یَصِفُوْنَ ۟

Subhaana Rabbika Rabbil 'izzati 'amma yasifoon

Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)!

وَسَلٰمٌ عَلَی الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ ۟

Wa salaamun 'alalmursaleen

And Peace on the messengers!

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِیْنَ 

Walhamdu lillaahi Rabbil 'aalameen

And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds.
