At-Takathur

اَلْهٰىكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ ۟

Al haaku mut takathur

The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things),

حَتّٰی زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ ۟

Hatta zurtumul-maqaabir

Until ye visit the graves.

كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُوْنَ ۟

Kalla sawfa ta'lamoon

But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality).

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُوْنَ ۟

Thumma kalla sawfa ta'lamoon

Again, ye soon shall know!

كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ عِلْمَ الْیَقِیْنِ ۟

Kalla law ta'lamoona 'ilmal yaqeen

Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!)

لَتَرَوُنَّ الْجَحِیْمَ ۟

Latara-wun nal jaheem

Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire!

ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَیْنَ الْیَقِیْنِ ۟

Thumma latara wunnaha 'ainal yaqeen

Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight!

ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ یَوْمَىِٕذٍ عَنِ النَّعِیْمِ 

Thumma latus alunna yauma-izin 'anin na'eem

Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in!).
