Al-Ghashiyah

هَلْ اَتٰىكَ حَدِیْثُ الْغَاشِیَةِ ۟

Hal ataaka hadeesul ghaashiyah

Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)?

وُجُوْهٌ یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ ۟

Wujoohuny yawma 'izin khaashi'ah

Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated,

عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ ۟

Aamilatun naasibah

Labouring (hard), weary,-

تَصْلٰی نَارًا حَامِیَةً ۟

Taslaa naaran haamiyah

The while they enter the Blazing Fire,-

تُسْقٰی مِنْ عَیْنٍ اٰنِیَةٍ ۟

Tusqaa min 'aynin aaniyah

The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring,

لَیْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ اِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِیْعٍ ۟

Laisa lahum ta'aamun illaa min daree'

No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari'

لَّا یُسْمِنُ وَلَا یُغْنِیْ مِنْ جُوْعٍ ۟

Laa yusminu wa laa yughnee min joo'

Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.

وُجُوْهٌ یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ ۟

Wujoohuny yawma 'izin naa'imah

(Other) faces that Day will be joyful,

لِّسَعْیِهَا رَاضِیَةٌ ۟

Lisa'yihaa raadiyah

Pleased with their striving,-

فِیْ جَنَّةٍ عَالِیَةٍ ۟

Fee jannatin 'aaliyah

In a Garden on high,

لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِیْهَا لَاغِیَةً ۟

Laa tasma'u feehaa laaghiyah

Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity:

فِیْهَا عَیْنٌ جَارِیَةٌ ۟

Feehaa 'aynun jaariyah

Therein will be a bubbling spring:

فِیْهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوْعَةٌ ۟

Feehaa sururum marfoo'ah

Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high,

وَّاَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوْعَةٌ ۟

Wa akwaabum mawzoo'ah

Goblets placed (ready),

وَّنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوْفَةٌ ۟

Wa namaariqu masfoofah

And cushions set in rows,

وَّزَرَابِیُّ مَبْثُوْثَةٌ ۟

Wa zaraabiyyu mabsoosah

And rich carpets (all) spread out.

اَفَلَا یَنْظُرُوْنَ اِلَی الْاِبِلِ كَیْفَ خُلِقَتْ ۟

Afalaa yanzuroona ilalibili kaifa khuliqat

Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?-

وَاِلَی السَّمَآءِ كَیْفَ رُفِعَتْ ۟

Wa ilas samaaa'i kaifa rufi'at

And at the Sky, how it is raised high?-

وَاِلَی الْجِبَالِ كَیْفَ نُصِبَتْ ۟

Wa ilal jibaali kaifa nusibat

And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?-

وَاِلَی الْاَرْضِ كَیْفَ سُطِحَتْ ۟

Wa ilal ardi kaifa sutihat

And at the Earth, how it is spread out?

فَذَكِّرْ اِنَّمَاۤ اَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ ۟

Fazakkir innama anta Muzakkir

Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish.

لَسْتَ عَلَیْهِمْ بِمُصَۜیْطِرٍ ۟

Lasta 'alaihim bimusaitir

Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs.

اِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلّٰی وَكَفَرَ ۟

Illaa man tawallaa wa kafar

But if any turn away and reject Allah,-

فَیُعَذِّبُهُ اللّٰهُ الْعَذَابَ الْاَكْبَرَ ۟

Fa yu'azzibuhul laahul 'azaabal akbar

Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment,

اِنَّ اِلَیْنَاۤ اِیَابَهُمْ ۟

Innaa ilainaaa iyaabahum

For to Us will be their return;

ثُمَّ اِنَّ عَلَیْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ 

Summa inna 'alainaa hisaabahum

Then it will be for Us to call them to account.
